It may be from an underlying reason. This problem seem to be affecting women more than men. Some reasons can be hereditary, calcium deficiency and hormonal imbalance.

Some causes for for pain.

Wrist tendinitis.
What exactly is wrist tendinitis? It is from swelling under the thumb. If your squeeze something or even from sudden movements you feel pain. It may be from lifting things too much or wrong ways being lifted. It can move up your arm and be the cause of lots of pain.

Ganglion cyst.
What exactly does it mean? It means that there is small bulges that appears in the wrist or fingers. It is full of liquid and very painful. Treatment can be anti-inflammatory medication, but if it becomes very serious. The liquid needs to be drained.

Thumb arthritis.
It is exactly as the name says. Arthritis in the thumb. It can be from wearing the joint down or from stress on your thumb. As we do use our thumbs for most things it can cause irritability and cause that we cant use our thumbs properly.

Trigger finger.
What exactly is it? Imagine someone that is about to pull the trigger. You have the image of the way the finger is bent on your mind? Now think what it is like when that finger cant be pulled straight again. It is a very painful and uncomfortable for of wrist/hand pain.

Carpal Tunnel syndrome.
This is very serious and painful. If not treated early it can even move up affecting your arm. women are mostly affected by this, especially if you use keyboards or even repeating the same movements while moving your fingers a lot.

Home remedies you can consider.

Please note that this will only be for mild pain.

Linseed oil.
Take one tablespoon of linseed oil each morning for three months to help for inflammation.

Cherries.
Eating at least ten cherries every day will help for inflammation and remove pain.

Vitamin B6
Eating a food that is high in Vitamin B6 or taking supplements will relieve pain in joints.

Omega 3. Now this one has been discussed before. As it is well known to reduce inflammation and is considered a natural way of treating Osteoarthritis.

Dealing with or even treating these type of pains can be very tricky. So always remember treatment can be best left to your doctor if the pain is severe.
